BA Programme Eligibility Criteria

To enroll in the Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) Open and Distance Learning (ODL) or Online degree programmes at BAOU, applicants must fulfill the prescribed academic qualifications.

BAOU has not published the specific fee structure for the B.A. programme on its site as of 03 October 2026.

  • Standard 12 (10+2) pass or equivalent from a recognized board.
  • Standard 10 pass followed by a recognized 3-year Diploma course.
  • Standard 10 pass followed by a recognized ITI course of 2 or more years.
  • PTC pass from a recognized institution.
  • Successful completion of the Bachelor’s Preparatory Programme (B.P.P.) examination (applicable for Online B.A. English).

BA Credit Framework and Subject Scheme

The B.A. degree programme requires students to complete a total of 108 credits. Students choose between two course component selection options. Basic courses totaling 36 credits are compulsory for all B.A. students.

To select a main subject for the degree, a learner must complete 48 credits in optional courses of that subject. In the third year, students take vocational courses.

BA Examination and Student Evaluation Rules

Student performance is assessed through a two-tier evaluation system combining internal assignments and term-end examinations.

Students can request services such as exam writer forms, rechecking, or reassessment through the BAOU exam application forms page.

  • Continuous Evaluation (30% weightage): All prescribed assignments must be submitted within the specified time limits before appearing in term-end examinations.
  • Term End Evaluation (70% weightage): Students secure admission in August or February. The first exam takes place after completing one full year in the subsequent July or January session.
  • Students cannot appear for the term-end exam prior to the completion of one full year of study.
